Mountain View Baptist Church leads plan to revitalize Newtown neighborhood

In May 2022, Greenville Journal reported on the launch of a community-driven planning process for Newtown led by Mountain View Baptist Church and Parish House Community Development Corporation. The article outlined challenges including disinvestment, flooding, contamination, limited food access and the pressure of nearby growth, while also sharing the priorities voiced during a neighborhood design charrette.
For us, the planning process began with listening. Affordable housing, health and wellness, environmental cleanup, economic opportunity and cultural preservation all belong in the same conversation because a thriving community needs each of them. The plan is an expression of our commitment to help Newtown grow without losing the people and history that make it special.
